Here is an article and picture that resonates loudly for me when I consider the methodologies I'm exploring in my classroom.
[I will add to and modify this post as time allows me.]

Download the pdf 'The Digital School' by principal of Ocoee Middle School (Florida) – Katherine Clark.
Check out the 'Cable in the Classroom' website for other excellent articles.

Repeatedly we are hearing of the necessity for students to have their own (one for each student) interactive and collaborative learning tools. Marc Prensky recently spoke of this when he was in Adelaide. Marc is referenced in the article under 'Challenges'.
I have mentioned elsewhere that I see IWBs (interactive whiteboards) as an exciting exploration (but not the 'answer') towards making such a learning environment an accessible reality. The same goes for my classroom.

What will the 2006 miniLegends be using in the classroom when they (you) are this age? One computer attached to a data-projector attached to a touchscreen at the front of the room? One computer shared between every five students at their desks where they sit – networked and connected to the teacher computer? I hope not – what do you think …?

Hi Al
Congratulations on your Educator of the Year award. Most deserving.

The techology is a means to an end and we will be using what is affordable and useful at the time. What is useful will depend on the imagination of those involved.

It is the ‘hacker’ mentality that is probably the most important IMO. I don’t mean hacker in a negative sense but as someone who prods, pokes and reconfigures things, often for no real outcome, just to understand what happens. Just hacks.

I wonder what would happen if ……………..

I reckon that you might have a bit of hacker in you ;-)
