Well you have seen the ‘Leeroy Jenkins’ movie now.
It comes from a group of people playing ‘World of Warcraft’ (WOW)
This is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Player Game)
There are millions of people playing the same game.

I recon they had a great plan but leroy should not of ran in straight out
That game is aoesome when will we play it. I like the bit where they fight the bad guys.
I think leeroy was so selfish he spoild all the plans if we paled a game like this it wold make us better team workers and stuff
I realy like that sort of game because it intrestes me to play because i like the play and making plans and that sort if games

I don’t play eany games like this but when I wached it I saw good coperation until the time that the sick guy (Leeroy jenkins) kind of spoild the plan but I did not get the bit about the chicken at the end!
I think that they had co-operation only half way through the movie because Leroy just ran in and said Leeroy Jenkins!! but he was sick why would somebody do that I mean thats just letting your crew down if I was playing that game I would not do that.
I like the co-operation until Leeroy runs off.

In the movie all of there plans were just a waste of time because of leroy.

I love how you talked about teams, co-operation, plans, spoiling it, being selfish, listening to the group, being a team mate, playing the game, fun, what’s cool/what’s sick … we can add to this list and look for a game where we can explore this more.

I watched the movie too and also read your comments. They were very thoughtful. I think your class must be full of people who would make a good guild or clan in a game becasue you all seem to understand how important setting a goal and working together is if you want to reach that goal.
Even though I am an ‘old duck’, probably older than your parents, I really like gaming. My daughter, Liz, who is 16 is a Level 50 in the game World of Warcraft and she has many good friends who play it too. Tehy form a guild which is like a club that go on missions like the one in the movie. They combine their skills, their talents and the objects they have collected to make an invincible team. Sometimes they have to make several different plans and recruit other random players at high levels to help them because their plan does’t always work the first time. But they keep trying. Each time working out how to improve their plan to get the result they want. They reflect on what worked and what went wrong, just like you did after watching the movie. Sometimes it is ‘lag’ that causes them to fail. Lag is when your Internet connection is too slow or your computer is too slow and your character just freezes while you wait for the data to get through to their computer and back to yours. At busy times when a lot of people are playing, there is a lot of lag. At other times there may be no lag. Did you hear them talk about lag in the movie? One player who ahd an important role was suffering lag and he could not help out. I think he got killed. Liz often gets upset if she is in the middle of an ‘instance’ (that is what they call one of these group battles in WOW) and I start downloading a big file on my computer because my computer takes some of the broadband band width and she will get lag and then get killed in the game. She tries to let me know if there is a big event happening now so this doesn’t happen and spoil their plans.
Anyway, I hope you have fun playing and learning with computer games!!
